Superintendent Job Description

 

Muhlenberg County Schools is seeking an innovative, student-centered, and community-focused educational leader to serve as the next Superintendent of Schools. The successful candidate should have administrative experience and a reputation as an open, approachable, ethical, and enthusiastic leader who is actively involved and visible throughout the district as well as the community. Candidates should possess a passion for enhancing student achievement, strategic financial management, strong instructional leadership experience.

The district is deeply committed to its Profile of a Learner, which defines the essential skills, dispositions, and competencies students must develop to be successful in college, career, and life. The next superintendent will be expected to champion this work by aligning curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning to ensure students graduate as critical thinkers, effective communicators, collaborative problem-solvers, and responsible citizens.

Muhlenberg County Schools also takes pride in its comprehensive Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, which provide students with hands-on learning experiences, industry certifications, and strong partnerships with local and regional businesses. The superintendent will be expected to support and expand these workforce-ready pathways while strengthening connections between schools, industry, and postsecondary institutions.

In addition, the district continues to expand and enhance STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning opportunities across grade levels. From foundational elementary STEM experiences to advanced coursework and real-world application at the secondary level, Muhlenberg County Schools is committed to preparing students for high-demand careers in technology, engineering, healthcare, and related fields. The next leader should bring a vision for innovation that builds on this momentum and ensures equitable access to rigorous, future-focused learning opportunities for all students.

Kentucky superintendent certification is required. A competitive salary will be offered for a July 1, 2026, contract start.
