The Muhlenberg County School Board voted on May 21 at the May board meeting to hire Brian Lile as the new superintendent effective July 1, 2026, and to approve his contract. Lile will replace the current superintendent.
Lile began his teaching career at Muhlenberg South Middle School as the Math/Algebra 25 years ago. He went on to serve as the Assistant Principal and Principal of Muhlenberg South Middle, Instructional Supervisor and then Human Resource Director of Muhlenberg County Schools.
Lile is a Muhlenberg County native and graduated from Muhlenberg South High School. He and his wife of 22 years, Candace, have three children – Camden (Daryn), Mason, and Brilee-Ann.
Lile had this to say about becoming superintendent of Muhlenberg County Schools, “I am deeply honored and humbled to have been named the next superintendent of our school district. This is an incredible opportunity, and I am grateful to the Board of Education for their trust and confidence in me to serve our students, staff, and community in this role.
I want to especially thank my wife and family for their unwavering love, encouragement, and support throughout this journey. Their belief in me has made this moment possible. I am also thankful for the countless colleagues, mentors, educators, staff members, and leaders I have had the privilege to work alongside throughout the years. Each experience and relationship has helped shape my passion for education and leadership.
I am truly excited about the future of this district and the opportunity to work together in service of our students, staff, schools, and community. Our schools are filled with talented educators, dedicated employees, supportive families, and students with tremendous potential. I look forward to listening, learning, building relationships, and working collaboratively to continue moving our district forward.
Education changes lives, and I am committed to doing everything I can to help create opportunities for every student to succeed. I cannot wait to get started and begin this next chapter together with our community.”
