From a parent…Our librarian was able to purchase a book vending machine for our school from Scholastic and is using the tokens it takes to reward good behavior. Kids are super excited about earning these tokens to get these books!
We have some new young staff members that have shared that all the staff have been very welcoming to them. One mentioned it’s been easy to work at our school because everyone has been so helpful and welcoming and made me feel as if I have been there for years.
Bus 232 has received many compliments this week on how well they have unloaded and loaded their bus in the mornings and afternoons.
Our specials teachers have shared that our Kindergarten students are off to a wonderful start meeting the expectations and following procedures.
Our special education team has faced many scheduling challenges, and they have continued to go above and beyond to meet the needs of our students.
Shout out to all the staff at our school. Many people are in new roles this year and everyone is stepping up to help and support each other. We have amazing adults taking care of our kids.
I witnessed a student who was having trouble finding the right page in his workbook and without hesitation, two students helped him. It’s great to see our students so willing to help others! An example of our students teaching a great lesson for all of us.
From a teacher about a new colleague…She is doing fantastic and has been positive for the students in the department and myself. Great hire!
Our SRO is such a major part of our school. He works to make sure our students and staff are safe, but more than that he is a leader in our building as far as culture. He is always positive and willing to help. We are blessed to have him with us.
From transportation…I want to share that we have heard so many positive comments from drivers so far this year. Many have shared how good their routes have been, even through the heat they have bragged. With heat indexes being over 100 degrees on some days the drivers have not complained. We have a strong and positive group of staff who are working very hard to maintain positive energy this year.
Many of our teachers did a wonderful job of planning very meaningful and impactful 9/11 lessons for our students. Our students valued the engagement from learning the various perspectives (from adults who were students or teachers on 9/11/01 to one who even worked in the Nashville airport).
We held our first Friday A Clubs & Interest Groups. New this year, all students must choose a club or interest group to attend. Our building was filled with excitement because of the engaging and fun activities and meetings happening! Our goal is for EVERY student to find their niche here in Mustang Nation!
