From a parent…My son had Show and Tell and he chose to take one of his monster trucks, a muscle car and a lizard for his three things about him. If anyone knows my boys, they love reptiles. I busted out laughing when I saw the picture his teacher sent me. At least he chose a fake one and not a real one. Just want to add that my son loves school and comes home talking all about it and I’m so happy he has such good teachers and his big brother to help him.
The new admin team at the middle school is AWESOME! They are setting the tone for a great year!
From one of our weekly readers…Just wanted to say how much I appreciate your emails celebrating the positive going on in the district! Impressive, refreshing, needed.
I want to give a shoutout to one of our bus drivers for our marching band contest this past weekend to Elizabethtown. On the bus, he asked me lots of questions about marching band since he had never been to a competition. In between driving that morning and night, he helped push some of our approximately 50 instruments and props (heavy!) all round their campus. He even helped us push onto the field to perform. Pushing that stuff up and down hills is no easy task. I know I am sore! I have been doing marching band since 2011, and I have never once seen a bus driver help us like he has. When I asked him why he was helping us instead of sitting on his bus, he replied, “I just can’t sit still”. I think the real reason is that he is a hardworking, good guy.
Our new teacher has such good classroom management skills but also has a heart for her students. She is a great example of having high standards and showing love and kindness to students.
Our students have really bought into our new points system! Over 25% of them have already earned points by attending extra-curricular events, participating in spirit days, and/or by completing Acts of Integrity (“doing great things for others”).
I love being a part of my school and Muhlenberg County Schools. The staff, students, and administration make me love coming to work each day. I feel very blessed to be a part of such a wonderful school and community!
This week a student noticed a classmate stuck on their work and sat down to help without being asked. They walked through it together until it clicked. That is the kind of moment that makes a school feel right.
Teachers stayed after school this week trying new ways to reach students who need something different. They were looking for what might finally work. That extra time is already showing up in class.
MCHS FCCLA and FFA students volunteered as servers for the Farm to Fork event last weekend and did an amazing job! One student shared with a community member that he was excited because it was great preparation before he starts his new job soon.
MCHS/Felix E. Martin, Jr. Hall was excited and honored to host the Kentucky NAACP State Conference 9/18-9/19.
I just wanted to share that I happened to be in the hall when y’all (Muhlenberg Achieves Workforce Solutions Tour) returned today. Two students stopped to talk to me about their trip. They were quite excited about what they learned- especially about becoming a lineman. I talked with them for a few minutes about possible trades to go into- including electric with the union in Owensboro for free. This trip was very inspiring to them.
